What's in My Backpack?

Hey guys! This will be my fourth post in my #backtoschoolbeauty series! I thought I would show you what to have in your backpack for the first day/week of school. Obviously, after you find out what your teachers want you to have (school supplies wise), things will change. But, for the first week, these supplies should suffice. So, let's get into the supplies!

The first thing I will show y'all my backpack. It's from Aeropostle. I got it last year, so I don't think you can still buy it. I don't typically get a new backpack every year, and I still like this one.

The first thing to put in there is a notebook. This is just a black FIVE STAR One-Subject notebook (below). They come in a ton of colors and in three- and five-subject. But, just use whatever notebook you have, and then buy some after you find out your school supply needs. These notebooks are my favorite!

Next, you will probably need a folder. On the first few days, you get a TON of paperwork. It's also a great place to put class papers, your schedule, and a map. (A map is an ESSENTIAL) So, definitely have a folder.

The next thing you will need is your ID. You will use this for lunch, the library, and a ton of other things. If I were you, I would always have it on-hand. (If you want an ID/Picture Day makeup post, comment below!)

I would also recommend having a pencil bag. It will hold all of your pencils and pens. For things to put inside, I would suggest mechanical pencils, pencil lead, a black/red/blue pen, highlighters, scissors, your ID, an eraser, and maybe some emergency money (in case you can't buy lunch or something).

I also bring a makeup bag. I did a whole post about what I keep in there, so check it out here: http://lovekelseybeauty.blogspot.com/2013/08/school-beauty-essentials_11.html

The last, and probably most important thing to keep you organized-- a planner. My school has planners to purchase, and they aren't ugly, so I got one. They are a lot smaller than a normal piece-of-paper-size planner. If your school has an ugly planner, Target has cute ones. Find one you think will keep you organized and will help you remember your homework.

Those are all the things I would suggest to have in your backpack for the first week. I also, obviously, keep my phone with me.

Please Instagram me with the hashtag #backtoschoolbeauty and show me your school supplies. Also tag me, @lovekelseybeauty . I start school tomorrow, August 26th! Tell me when y'all go back to school, or if you already have!
Disclaimer: Not sponsored. FIVE STAR is one of my favorite brands for school supplies, so I included them. You don't have to use the same brands as me. Comment below your favorite supply brands!

Back to School Tag

Hey guys! This will be my third post in my "Back to School Beauty" series! Be sure to post any back to school pictures on Instagram, and tag my new account: @lovekelseybeauty . Also use the hashtag #backtoschoolbeauty . Today I thought I'd do my first tag. I love tags because they are really easy to do. So, if you enjoy this one, comment below other tags you'd like to see from me!

Back to School TAG!

1. What grade are you going into? I will be starting high school this year!

 2. What are you excited and/or nervous for this year? I'm excited for more freedom. Teachers baby you too much in middle school. But, I am nervous about making new friends because I have no friends at the school I am going to. And, I'm pretty shy before I get to know someone.

 3. What's your favorite part of getting ready for back to school? I love shopping for clothes, makeup, school supplies, etc.

 4. What grade were you in when you first started wearing makeup to school? Eighth grade(:

 5. Where or from whom do you like getting inspiration for back to school trends & styles? I watch a bunch of YouTube beauty gurus. I get a lot of inspiration from lookbooks and fashion videos they do! (Comment below if you want to know who I watch on YouTube!)

6. What are your favorite upcoming "back to school"/fall trends for this year? I really have no idea what is trending right now. Lol that's sad. But I have been loving circle skirts, floral print, and sandals.

7. Where do you like to go shopping for back to school supplies? Target

8. What are your favorite stores to go back to school shopping? Target, Forever 21, H&M for clothes, and Ulta, Sephora, Target, or Walgreens for makeup.

9. Will you be carrying a backpack or a purse to school this year? Backpack

10. What are 3 non-beauty essentials you HAVE to carry in your backpack/purse? Gum, my phone (and headphones), and my school ID.

11. What are 3 beauty essentials that you HAVE to carry in you backpack/purse? Well, I just posted my beauty essentials post last week, but if I picked three, they would be: whatever lip color I am wearing that day, powder (I get oily), and a perfume rollerball!

12. What are your go-to hair products for this year, and what is your go to hair style? My go-to hair products would be: Tresemme Heat Tamer, Garnier Fructis Argan Oil, and Garnier Fructis Sleek and Shine Hairspray! My go to hair style is typically straightened. I have pretty straight hair naturally, so I either wear it natural or touch it up with a flat-iron. I also braid my hair the night before to make heatless waves or I curl my hair. I try to have a variety of hairstyles, but I rarely wear ponytails or buns.

13. What are your go-to makeup products for this year and what is your go-to makeup look for school? I have been loving my BareMinerals eye primer, L'Oreal Voluminous False Fiber Lashes mascara, and my Maybelline Fit Me concealer. Everyday, I will wear concealer, powder, eye primer, a little eyeshadow (I keep it neutral), mascara, blush, and sometimes a lip stain or Baby Lips.

14. What are your go-to clothing items for back to school, and what accessories to you plan to rock this year? I wear jeans like crazy. I'm trying to branch out into skirts and dresses though. I have been loving floral shirts, sandals, and circle skirts as well. I love to wear rings from Brandy Melville, and my James Avery charm bracelet. I typically wear pearl or crystal studs for earrings.

15. Who do you tag? YOU.

I took this tag from this-girls-viewpoint.blogspot.com/. If you don't have a blog, just comment below your answers, I'd love to see them!

School Beauty Essentials!

Hey guys! This will be my second post in my Back to School Beauty series. Today I'd thought I'd share my beauty essentials for back to school. I don't bring a ton of beauty items to school, but they sure do come in handy in case of a makeup meltdown. It's pretty hot most of the year where I live, so being outside for more than 5 minutes will make you sweat! Let's get into the essentials.

So, to the left, is a makeup bag you can purchase at Target. (link: http://www.target.com/p/arabian-brights-cosmetic-bag-collection/-/A-14392514 ) I have a makeup bag from this collection that is a size up (I use it for travel), but my makeup bag I keep in my backpack from Primark (a store I went to in England) is nowhere on the internet. So, let's get into what I keep in my makeup bag!
  • Maybelline Fit Me Concealer - I always keep a concealer in my makeup bag. If I get oily and my makeup needs a touch-up, it's important to have a concealer, especially if I have any breakouts or redness.
  • Rimmel Stay Matte Powder - Powder is a must-have! I get oily and have to touch up at least once during a school day.
  • Kleenex On The Go - If you don't know what this is, it's just those Kleenex tissue pack that are easy to fit into a purse or makeup bag. I use these a ton. I use them as blotting paper; they work just as well. Also, I am SUPER allergy prone, and if I skip a day of taking my allergy medicine, I will have a cold the next day. Definitely an essential.
  • Lipbalm - I don't have a specific brand I love, but I always have a lipbalm in my makeup bag so I don't get chapped lips. That's just not cute.
  • Lipstain/Lipstick/Tinted Lipbalm/Lipgloss - I, again, don't have a specific product I always keep in there, but whatever lip color I where that day, I throw it in my bag to touch up after lunch or if my lip color is wearing off. I have recently been loving my Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stains, which I have posted about on Instagram. Let me know if you want a review!
  • EcoTools Powder Brush - This is a great drugstore powder brush. I definitely recommend their brushes, they are amazing quality. But, I keep a powder brush in there to apply my Rimmel Stay Matte Powder. (Purchasable at Ulta)
  • Bedhead Tigi Hard Head Hairspray - I don't keep this in my makeup bag, but I do keep it in my backpack if I curl my hair that day. I always need to touch up, and the one I have is perfect because it's travel sized, and really helps my hair hold a curl, which it does NOT like to do!
  • Perfume Rollerball - Whenever I buy perfume, I always buy a rollerball as well to keep with me during the day. I like to smell nice, okay?
So that's basically all. Wow I feel like I keep a lot in my makeup bag, but I always use all of them. Let me know what your essentials are down below.

Follow me on Instagram @lovekelseybeauty for multiple posts during the week. Post a picture of your essentials on Instagram with the hashtag #backtoschoolbeauty and tag me as well!

July Favorites!

Hey! I thought I'd just post an extra blog post about my July favorites! I will try to do these monthly in addition to my regular posts! Always check at the beginning of the next month for a favorites post!

Makeup:
  • Maybelline The Falsies Waterproof Mascara: I love this stuff. I use it as my first coat of mascara, and it really gives a lot of length and volume. (Tip: If you have hard to curl lashes, use a waterproof mascara as your first coat, it really works!)
  • L'Oreal Voluminous False Fiber Lashes Mascara: I haven't heard many people talk about this, so I will insert a picture. It has fibers in the mascara to add eyelashes basically! It works wonderfully, and it really gives full, voluminous lashes. It is a little pricey (almost 11 dollars!), but it is really worth it!
  • Maybelline Fit Me Concealer: I have made a review about this, and I love it. Click here to see the review: http://lovekelseybeauty.blogspot.com/2013/07/review-maybelline-fit-me-concealer.html
  • Rimmel Stay Matte Powder: I have really liked this stuff for keeping me matte this summer. I do still have to re-apply, but I think it does they job! I wear 001 Transparent.
Hair:
  • Garnier Fructis Sleek and Shine Leave-In Conditioning Treatment: I love this! It works so well, along with the rest of the Sleek and Shine line! It keeps my hair really shiny and smooth, I love how soft my hair feels.
  • it's a 10 miracle leave-in: Everyone raves about this, and for a good reason. It is a thermal protector and fights frizz and dryness. I use this if I am going to blow-dry my hair, otherwise, I will use the product listed above.
Other:
  • Walgreens 10% Benzoyl Peroxide Gel: I use this after I wash my face and it really makes my skin clear. It is super strong, which is great, but if you don't wash your hands after, you will bleach everything you touch. Not a good experience. http://www.walgreens.com/store/c/walgreens-benzoyl-peroxide-acne-medication-gel/ID=prod5901452-product
  • Clif Z Bars: I love Z Bars. Recently I got this box from Costco and it has 8 Iced Oatmeal Cookie, 8 Chocolate Chip, and 8 Chocolate Brownie. They taste so good I eat one like every day. I will definitely repurchase that box set once I run out!
Music:
These are all my July favorites! What are yours? Comment them below, along with any other post requests. Also, I am trying to update my blog and make it look a little better, so if you come back and it looks different, that's why. BLOG UNDER CONSTRUCTION.

Middle School Survival Guide

Hey guys! Welcome to my first blog post in my Back to School Beauty series! I will continue to post a back to school blog post every Sunday through August and September. Today, I want to help all of y'all going into, or in, middle school.

Middle school is an interesting time in people's lives. Girls will be girls and boys will be boys. Girls can be mean, and boys can be straight-up immature. Drama is everywhere. Anyone and everyone will start rumors for attention and do the stupidest of things. Here is how to survive middle school:

For those of y'all going into middle school, don't be nervous. It's not that bad. I got super nervous that I would get lost or not know how to open my locker. But, everything was fine. Typically, you'll have orientation and get your locker and schedule. Take advantage of this!! Find out where your classes are and efficient routes to each class. Open your locker a few times or until you get the hang of unlocking and locking it. By the first day, you will be able to open your locker. Write it on a piece of paper and put it in your pocket if you think you'll forget it. Teachers will also be very helpful the first few weeks when it comes to lockers and where to go.

If you are already in middle school, you know how it all works. After a week or two, everyone will have a settled routine. Here are some additional tips for everyone going into middle school (or high school):
  • Be yourself. People don't like fakes. It's just another reason for drama. Minimizing your involvement in it will really help your reputation in school.
  • Along with being yourself, don't dress to impress the first day. That totally might throw you off, but hear me out. If you are the "shorts and a t-shirt girl" (which is fine), don't wear a fancy dress and your hair curled the first day of school. Wear something you'd normally wear. I knew this girl that on the first day of 8th grade wore this really pretty red dress and these CUTE sandals. But, the rest of the year all she wore was jeans and V-neck tees. My main point (I think this goes for anyone in school) is be yourself when it comes to what you wear the first day.
  • Join clubs! Clubs or special classes (like theater or art) will help you find where you fit in. It'll be easier to make friends if you find ones that have common interests as you.
  • Get good grades. Some colleges look at your grades in middle school! Don't just think because it's easy work that you can blow it off! Try your hardest in school.
I hope this helped some people going into middle school! Post any pictures on Instagram with the hashtag #backtoschoolbeauty or tag my new Instagram @lovekelseybeauty ! Comment below when you go back to school or anything you'd like to see from me!
