September Favorites

Hey guys! Today I am going to be doing my September Favorites! Last month, I was so busy with #backtoschoolbeauty posts, I forgot. So, this is what stuff I've been loving for the past two months. Let's get started!

Makeup:
  • elf Blush in Twinkle Pink - I love this blush. It's the perfect pink for a pale complexion, and has some shimmer but not really chunky glitter. It's a very natural blush and I think it can look great on all skin tones. And, it's also a close dupe for NARS Orgasm. Definitely give this one a try first because it's only a dollar or two. It'll definitely be a winter must-have!
  • BedHead TIGI Hard Head Hairspray - Now, you might be wondering why this is in the makeup section, but it is in the right place. I found this awesome trick on YouTube to use hairspray to set your brows. I have a ton of hairspray, so I thought I'd give it a try, and I have been loving using this. It keeps my brows in place. Just spray some on a spoolie or eyebrow comb and brush through your brows. It's a really great trick and now I don't need to buy brow gel!
Hair:
  • Infiniti by Conair Curling Wand - I have had this thing since the sixth grade, but recently I have fell in love with it. I have found a way to curl my hair without the curls falling out (oh the struggle). I will definitely do a post about it, but I have been using this curling wand more than I probably should.
  • Tresemme Heat Tamer Spray - This is probably the most talked about heat protectant in the history of mankind, but I had to add it. It has kept my hair from being fried by that lovely curling wand shown above.
Fashion:
  • H&M Black Circle Skirt - It's just a plain black circle skirt, but I've been wearing it to death. I wear it with everything. It's super versatile, and I might get one in burgundy for the fall time. Let me know what you think below!
Other:
  • Udi's Gluten, Dairy, Soy Free Chocolate Muffins - Now you might think they would taste gross without wheat or dairy, but that are actually pretty good. I love to eat them for breakfast or as a quick snack. I'd definitely check them out. They are frozen (they have no preservatives), so check your frozen gluten free section at your local grocery store!
  • Hubert's Lemonade - This is more of an August favorite, but they are still amazing. My favorite kind is the Mango Lemonade. What's yours?

Music:

So that's all my favorites. Comment below your favorites of the month, and what else you want to see from me. Be on the lookout for my hair curling post if you have hard to curl hair.

Disclaimer: Not sponsored at all.

YouTubers I Watch!

Hey guys! I thought I'd tell y'all what YouTubers I like to watch. Even though I write a blog, I actually prefer to watch YouTubers. So, I will write down the ones I watch (it's a lot), and I will link their channel and tell you why I like them! Let's get started!

MakeupbyMandy24 (https://www.youtube.com/user/MakeupbyMandy24) (Amanda) - I love her channel. She is 14, and in the same grade as me. I watch a lot of teen YouTubers because they are so relatable. Her makeup looks are right on track with what I like and she does some great school videos and lookbooks! I am obsessed with her channel.

beautybaby44 (http://www.youtube.com/user/beautybaby44) and livinlikelindsey (https://www.youtube.com/user/livinlikelindsey) (Lindsey) - She is 18 and just moved off to college. Her makeup and clothes are just perfect. I love the majority of her style and she makes really great videos about skincare and has fool-proof makeup recommendations. livinlikelindsey is her vlog channel where she has a ton of vlogs about college life. She doesn't do as many beauty videos as vlogs because they are more time consuming, but her vlogs are still flawless.

sparkliebarbieXO (Kacey) (http://www.youtube.com/user/sparkliebarbieXO) - She is 19 and still finding where she wants to go in life. Her journey is so interesting to watch, and she does perfect makeup tutorials and lookbooks. She also does a lot of Get Ready With Me's that I am currently obsessed with watching.

Maddi Bragg (http://www.youtube.com/user/madisenrosebeauty1) - She recently changed her name from madisenrosebeauty1, but Maddi is more alive than ever. Her and Amanda are best friends, and I love her channel too. Maddi does great fashion videos, even though we don't have the same style. Her makeup is simple and natural, like I love, and her tips are great for teens. I am pretty sure she is in 9th grade as well.

Evelina (http://www.youtube.com/user/Evelinicutza) - Evelina creates the highest quality videos ever. I think she deserves millions of subscribers. She is older, and has great fashion tips and great tips for a more sophisticated style. I still find her tricks of the trade applicable to my life and style.

StilaBabe09 (Mere) (http://www.youtube.com/user/StilaBabe09) - Mere (nickname for Meredith) is so bubbly. She is hilarious and a teen that just enjoys life. I love her makeup tutorials and GRWM's, and she inspired my 2013 homecoming makeup. I love her videos and is definitely a go to for people starting to watch beauty videos.

missglamorazzi (Ingrid) (http://www.youtube.com/user/missglamorazzi) - Ingrid is another bubbly 23 (?) year old. She has that laid-back style but definitely still keeps it classy. She makes great fashion videos and reviews. I trust all her makeup opinions because she has oily skin like I do, and it comes up a lot in her videos. She was probably one of the first beauty vloggers I ever watched.

makemeblush02 (Caroline) (http://www.youtube.com/user/makemeblush02) - She is another 9th grader! I watch a ton of them. But, she makes flawless lookbooks and makeup looks. They are incredible. She still keeps it natural but adds something little to some part to make her makeup stand out. Another flawless YouTuber.

eleventhgorgeous (Tracy and Stefanie) (http://www.youtube.com/user/eleventhgorgeous) - These girls are hilarious. These sisters are in their twenties, and make beauty videos. I love their GRWM's. They are so funny in them and their personality really appeals to a ton of people. I would definitely recommend their videos if you want a nice laugh.

leighannsays (LeighAnn) (http://www.youtube.com/user/leighannsays) - This Texan beauty is hilarious as well. She is crazy in her own way and makes excellent reviews of products and definitely has influenced me to buy some stuff, all of which worked and some are now holy grail products.

zoella280390 (Zoe) (http://www.youtube.com/user/zoella280390) - This channel is more commonly referred to as just "Zoella".  But Zoe is a British YouTuber that makes great videos and has funny collaborations. Her makeup and fashion looks are retro yet cute, and I love that about her. She has amazing originality.

BeautyLiciousInsider (Chelsea) (http://www.youtube.com/user/BeautyLiciousInsider) - I found her through looking for skincare. She has struggled a lot with acne and has made some great skincare reviews. Her homecoming lookbook was also amazing this year. She puts a lot of work into editing.

Beautybabe149 (Erica) (http://www.youtube.com/user/Beautybabe149) - She is 16, I believe, and has around 8,000 subscribers. She makes great videos in a general sense, and she deserves so many more followers than she has. I found her through laurensboutique.

laurensboutique (Lauren) (http://www.youtube.com/user/laurensboutique) - Lauren, like I mentioned above, is another YouTuber. She makes mostly fashion videos, but her makeup looks are natural and flawless, though those videos are few and inbetween. She introduced me to Erica's channel, which I love.

krazyrayray (Sarai) (http://www.youtube.com/user/krazyrayray) - I am obsessed with this channel too. She isn't your typical white Cali girl. She has great tips for people with darker skin (I don't mean to be racist in anyway here), and I like to branch out my horizons. She is another one that makes funny videos as well.

Macbarbie07 (http://www.youtube.com/user/Macbarbie07) and BethanysLife (http://www.youtube.com/user/BethanysLife) (Beth) - She is like the center of YouTube beauty gurus. Her tips are undeniably terrific and seems super sweet. She is 17 and one of the first YouTubers I ever watched, and I've loved seeing her progress to be more famous and better known. Her vlog channel, BethanysLife, has some great footage of her life and experiences, though she doesn't post often on there.

CloeCouture (Cloe) (http://www.youtube.com/user/CloeCouture) - She is a 16 year old that is so perfect. Like why? Perf. She did get account hacked, and got all her old videos back, luckily. She makes a lot of fashion videos, including a lot of Brandy Melville. I don't get Brandy where I live, so as much as everyone else on the coasts wear them, no one here does, and it is great to see what they have there.

MissMikaylaG (Mikayla) (http://www.youtube.com/user/MissMikaylaG) - Mikayla is a Canadian vlogger that just went to college as well. She makes great quality videos and I have seen her progress for the 7-8 month I have been subscribed. While she is in college, she still continues to make quality and consisted uploads, which is nice.

BeautyBySiena (Siena) (http://www.youtube.com/user/BeautyBySiena) - Siena is your typical Cali girl. She loves her some Brandy, and just recently opened an online store (http://sienascloset.com/). Her videos are funny, and she does a lot of routine videos and hauls.

Those are the YouTubers I watch. Yeah it's a lot. But I hope you enjoyed this post and comment on their videos if I sent you.

Common White Girl TAG

Hey guys! I thought I'd do another TAG post. I really enjoyed doing the Back to School TAG, so when I saw BeautyBaby44 (link to her page: http://www.youtube.com/user/beautybaby44) on Youtube do this TAG, I had to do it. I am pretty much your typical white girl. But, let's see:

1. Favorite Starbucks drink?
I, surprisingly, haven't experimented too much with different Starbucks drinks. My favorite/go-to order is a Café Mocha and I add cinnamon and just a little nutmeg in the fall/winter time. I like hot coffee all year round.

2. How long does it take you to get ready in the morning?
Anywhere from 40 minutes to an hour. It's typically 45 minutes, but like if I'm curling my hair, I allow myself 15 extra minutes. (This time also includes eating food and stuff...)

3. How many selfies do you take on a daily basis?
No, I don't have time for that! I rarely post selfies anymore. I feel like if you want to take a selfie it turns into a 30 minute photo shoot, and I probably should be doing homework.

4. How many IG followers and pictures do you have?
Let's see. On @lovekelseybeauty I have 21 followers (Follow me, I'm posting announcements and more fashion over there!), and 14 pictures. On my personal account, @__kelseyy____ I have 302 followers and 42 pictures.

5. Do you ever say "LOL" or "OMG" out loud?
Yes. It's kinda sad that I do but #typicalwhitegirlprobs.

6. Do you wear the same clothing item more than once?
YES. I wouldn't buy clothes that I wear only once. I think I've worn everything in my closet more than once. Except this pair of heels but.... I'm planning on wearing those.

7. Are you racist?
This is a stupid question. Um, no.

8. How many tweets do you have?
I currently do not have a Twitter (not even a personal one). I'll be sure to let you know if I get one!

9. Instagram, Twitter, or Tumblr?
I only have an Instagram, so...

10. What do you spend most of your time doing?
I spend most my time at school or doing homework. It's a fact of life. Lol. I spend multiple hours a day on homework and 7 hours at school. I know, I need a life.

11. Who are your favorite Youtubers?
I am actually planning on doing a post about this very soon, so I won't spoil this one! And, I have too many to list out right now.

12. How often do you do your nails?
I try to do my fingers every week, but I always have my toes done every other week to every 3 weeks. My toes don't chip as easily.

13. Are you a shopaholic?
Yes. It's not that I buy a ton of stuff, but if I have free time you will find me on my laptop shopping for gymnastics leotards, on the Forever 21 website, on Sephora's Beauty Insider chat thingy, or looking for deals on Ulta, and anywhere in between.

14. How many times have you watched Mean Girls?
Surprisingly, I've never seen the first Mean Girls. I have only seen Mean Girls 2, and I have seen that 5+ times.

15. Do you own a lot of clothes?
I'd say I own an average amount of clothing and shoes.

16. Do you take pictures of your food before you eat it?
I actually don't. I don't really like seeing food posts on IG, so I don't really like to take pictures of it.

17. Do you wear makeup everyday?
If I step outside my front door, I 100% guarantee I will have some makeup on.

18. What are your average grades in school?
I have never gotten a B before, so all A's. I try to keep it 95 and above!

19. How do you usually style your hair?
Straight, which is my natural hair. I also do that braid-your-hair-the-night-before thing a lot.

20. Do you always look presentable?

If I'm in public, I hope I look presentable, but not when I'm at home. I look like a rachet mess.

So I hope you enjoyed that. I learned some things about myself. See you next Sunday!

Disclaimer: This is not meant to offend anyone, I thought it was a fun TAG.

Empties #1

Hey guys. So, I've never made a post about empties before. So, I ventured into my trash can to find some beauty items I've used up. I like to watch these videos on Youtube, and thought I'd do one, and, if you enjoy this, maybe I'll make more! Now, let's dive in.

Suave Dry Shampoo:
This dry shampoo was the first one I ever tried. My mom gave it to me, and she said she liked it so I thought I'd try it. It sucked. I have very dark brown hair, and it just left my roots looking gray tinted and didn't do too well with controlling oil. I would not, and did not, repurchase this product. Luckily it was given to me only partially full. If you are a blonde (my mom is), I think this will work better for you because the powder in it won't make your roots look as gray. I have found a new dry shampoo I like, and comment below if you want a review!

Overall: 3

Garnier Fructis Style Sleek and Shine Firm Hold Hairspray:
I love Garnier. It's probably my favorite haircare brand. At one time, all products I used on my hair were from this Sleek and Shine line. That goes to say this is a great hairspray. I did not repurchase this because I wanted something that held curls better. My hair does not easily hold a curl. But, I would repurchase this for when I need a flexible hold hairspray. I really love this stuff, but it doesn't hold my curls as well as I'd like.

Overall: 8.5

Aeropostle Bayla Perfume:

So, this was my first perfume ever. So sad.  It's a very young scent, so as I finish the last nostalgic drops, it reminds me of 5th grade when I got it. I will not repurchase this, as I will be purchasing a more mature scent. I have other perfumes as well that aren't so young. But, all 4 of the years I had it, it was perfect. It has so many memories with this scent. I also believe it has a new bottle; this is the old one.

Overall: 9

Crest 3D White Toothpaste in Radiant Mint:
This is my favorite toothpaste. I really think it gradually whitens your teeth. I never use whitening treatments, but this works fine. I have repurchased this, and definitely recommend it if you are looking for a whitening toothpaste. This also come in a few flavors, I believe.

Overall: 10

Garnier Fructis Sleek and Shine Conditioner:

I love this conditioner. I like thicker conditioners, I feel like they make your hair softer. This is my holy grail conditioner. I have not repurchased this because I am trying to use a conditioner I bought in France that is Garnier as well. (Long story short I forgot to bring enough conditioner because I'm addicted to it). I am thinking of trying some of their other conditioner's before I repurchase this one again, but I still love it. I have a weird relationship with conditioners. I just love them so much.

Overall: 10

So I guess I unintentionally put these from my least favorite to favorite products. Oh well. These are all my empties. If you want me to see something on Instagram please tag me @lovekelseybeauty . Love y'all.

Quick Announcement: Where Have Y'all Been?

Hey guys. I thought I'd do an impromptu announcement thingy. I didn't want to wait until Sunday to ask where have all my viewers gone? One week I have 60+ viewers, and the next I have 5. Where have y'all been? I have gotten no feedback from anyone here on my blog or on my Instagram (@lovekelseybeauty) I really would just like some input. So, I thought I'd ask some questions and post your answers below.

  • Do you enjoy my content? - I don't know if decreasing viewers is due to content, but I want to know what kind of posts you want. (:
  • How often do you visit my blog? - I can't tell if the same people are coming or if it's a bunch of random people that never come back.
  • Are you following me? - You can follow me by email or on Google. This will always give you an alert when I have posted. Those bars will always be on the right of my posts.
  • What would you like to see? - Again, I have gotten no input on what you want to see. So, I'm just winging it.
  • Am I wasting my time? - Is my content bad, basically? Am I wasting my time on making this blog? (Answer honestly.)

So that's all my questions. I in no way intend to come across as rude but I don't know where all of you went. It just doesn't make you feel motivated when you have no one to be beside you.

First Weeks of School Experience + Advice

Hey guys! This will be my fifth and final post in my Back to School Beauty series. Instagram me pictures with the #backtoschoolbeauty and tag me @lovekelseybeauty to possibly be featured in some of my later posts!

So, I want to apologize for my lack of posting last week. I started school August 26th, and have been slightly overwhelmed, and trying to adjust. Now, I will try to stick to my schedule of posting every Sunday. Please know that lack of posts will purely be from me being busy. I start gymnastics competitions soon, and might forget to post occasionally. Make sure to follow my blog through email (register on the right), and you will always know when I have posted! Now let's get into my first weeks of high school experience!

So, before school actually started, I had a mini orientation. I got my ID picture taken, picked up textbooks, and got a brief view of the school. All this was very helpful and really helped give me a sense of where everything is in the school. I also had a freshman party that was hosted at school, where you can learn about clubs and organizations, as well as it had food and music. It was so fun!

Now, let's talk about school starting. I got my schedule on the very first day of school, which was overwhelming. Luckily, they don't count tardies at my school for the first week. My school is set up in an "A-day/B-day" style. I have 4 classes one day, then 4 classes the next day. But, all the classes are double a long as they would be if they were all in one day.  So on the first day of school, I had Art, then World Geography, then Spanish 2, then Biology. B-days, I have Graphic Design, then English, then Health, and then Geometry. I do take all Pre-AP as well. I really do like my schedule because it evenly divides up my fun classes with my not so fun classes. It creates a nice balance with my homework load, how bored I get (lol), etc.

Now, I'm just going to briefly talk about these two weeks as a whole. They have been pretty fun. Moving to a school where you only know a handful of people is stressful, but I have definitely found a really nice group of friends. I like basically all my teachers, and my homework load isn't excessive. So, overall these weeks have been good.

Now, I'm going to give  few bits of advice if you haven't started school, or if you can take anything from this. Probably not.

  • Have a map of the school. You don't have any clue how lost I got.
  • Don't be afraid to ask for help or directions. Teachers will normally be helpful and forgiving if you are late for the first week.
  • Try to get there on time. That sort of contradicted what I just said, but being punctual (if you can find where you are going) makes a good first impression.
  • Make friends in your classes. This is very important because you'll see them often, so trying to make friends with them; I promise this will help you in the long run.
  • Be organized. This is essential, especially if you have alternating days like I do. I would suggest having an organized binger and folder for each day. However you want to be organized, stay organized. It will keep you from having your brain all over the place.
  • Do your homework. This is a given. Even if you don't think you did well, turning it in later will not be helpful for your grade. In some of my classes, no late work is accepted. Like none. That's definitely different from how it was in middle school. So, bottom line, do your homework and turn it in.
  • Go to tutorials. Most teachers have that option available. It's not just for people who are failing, as some people think. If you have questions about the homework or what you are learning, seek the help of a teacher.
  • Ask questions. It'll help a lot to fully understand concepts, especially if you are learning at a very fast pace.
So, that's all I got. Hopefully I wasn't just all over the place, and that you took something from this. Tag me with your pictures on Instagram! I will try to start posting at least 3 times a week on there, as well as my main account @__kelseyy____ . There are 2 underscores at the beginning, and 4 at the end. (Yes I did change my username). Follow me on there for more regular posts, even though they probably won't be beauty related!

What's in My Backpack?

Hey guys! This will be my fourth post in my #backtoschoolbeauty series! I thought I would show you what to have in your backpack for the first day/week of school. Obviously, after you find out what your teachers want you to have (school supplies wise), things will change. But, for the first week, these supplies should suffice. So, let's get into the supplies!

The first thing I will show y'all my backpack. It's from Aeropostle. I got it last year, so I don't think you can still buy it. I don't typically get a new backpack every year, and I still like this one.

The first thing to put in there is a notebook. This is just a black FIVE STAR One-Subject notebook (below). They come in a ton of colors and in three- and five-subject. But, just use whatever notebook you have, and then buy some after you find out your school supply needs. These notebooks are my favorite!

Next, you will probably need a folder. On the first few days, you get a TON of paperwork. It's also a great place to put class papers, your schedule, and a map. (A map is an ESSENTIAL) So, definitely have a folder.

The next thing you will need is your ID. You will use this for lunch, the library, and a ton of other things. If I were you, I would always have it on-hand. (If you want an ID/Picture Day makeup post, comment below!)

I would also recommend having a pencil bag. It will hold all of your pencils and pens. For things to put inside, I would suggest mechanical pencils, pencil lead, a black/red/blue pen, highlighters, scissors, your ID, an eraser, and maybe some emergency money (in case you can't buy lunch or something).

I also bring a makeup bag. I did a whole post about what I keep in there, so check it out here: http://lovekelseybeauty.blogspot.com/2013/08/school-beauty-essentials_11.html

The last, and probably most important thing to keep you organized-- a planner. My school has planners to purchase, and they aren't ugly, so I got one. They are a lot smaller than a normal piece-of-paper-size planner. If your school has an ugly planner, Target has cute ones. Find one you think will keep you organized and will help you remember your homework.

Those are all the things I would suggest to have in your backpack for the first week. I also, obviously, keep my phone with me.

Please Instagram me with the hashtag #backtoschoolbeauty and show me your school supplies. Also tag me, @lovekelseybeauty . I start school tomorrow, August 26th! Tell me when y'all go back to school, or if you already have!
Disclaimer: Not sponsored. FIVE STAR is one of my favorite brands for school supplies, so I included them. You don't have to use the same brands as me. Comment below your favorite supply brands!

Back to School Tag

Hey guys! This will be my third post in my "Back to School Beauty" series! Be sure to post any back to school pictures on Instagram, and tag my new account: @lovekelseybeauty . Also use the hashtag #backtoschoolbeauty . Today I thought I'd do my first tag. I love tags because they are really easy to do. So, if you enjoy this one, comment below other tags you'd like to see from me!

Back to School TAG!

1. What grade are you going into? I will be starting high school this year!

 2. What are you excited and/or nervous for this year? I'm excited for more freedom. Teachers baby you too much in middle school. But, I am nervous about making new friends because I have no friends at the school I am going to. And, I'm pretty shy before I get to know someone.

 3. What's your favorite part of getting ready for back to school? I love shopping for clothes, makeup, school supplies, etc.

 4. What grade were you in when you first started wearing makeup to school? Eighth grade(:

 5. Where or from whom do you like getting inspiration for back to school trends & styles? I watch a bunch of YouTube beauty gurus. I get a lot of inspiration from lookbooks and fashion videos they do! (Comment below if you want to know who I watch on YouTube!)

6. What are your favorite upcoming "back to school"/fall trends for this year? I really have no idea what is trending right now. Lol that's sad. But I have been loving circle skirts, floral print, and sandals.

7. Where do you like to go shopping for back to school supplies? Target

8. What are your favorite stores to go back to school shopping? Target, Forever 21, H&M for clothes, and Ulta, Sephora, Target, or Walgreens for makeup.

9. Will you be carrying a backpack or a purse to school this year? Backpack

10. What are 3 non-beauty essentials you HAVE to carry in your backpack/purse? Gum, my phone (and headphones), and my school ID.

11. What are 3 beauty essentials that you HAVE to carry in you backpack/purse? Well, I just posted my beauty essentials post last week, but if I picked three, they would be: whatever lip color I am wearing that day, powder (I get oily), and a perfume rollerball!

12. What are your go-to hair products for this year, and what is your go to hair style? My go-to hair products would be: Tresemme Heat Tamer, Garnier Fructis Argan Oil, and Garnier Fructis Sleek and Shine Hairspray! My go to hair style is typically straightened. I have pretty straight hair naturally, so I either wear it natural or touch it up with a flat-iron. I also braid my hair the night before to make heatless waves or I curl my hair. I try to have a variety of hairstyles, but I rarely wear ponytails or buns.

13. What are your go-to makeup products for this year and what is your go-to makeup look for school? I have been loving my BareMinerals eye primer, L'Oreal Voluminous False Fiber Lashes mascara, and my Maybelline Fit Me concealer. Everyday, I will wear concealer, powder, eye primer, a little eyeshadow (I keep it neutral), mascara, blush, and sometimes a lip stain or Baby Lips.

14. What are your go-to clothing items for back to school, and what accessories to you plan to rock this year? I wear jeans like crazy. I'm trying to branch out into skirts and dresses though. I have been loving floral shirts, sandals, and circle skirts as well. I love to wear rings from Brandy Melville, and my James Avery charm bracelet. I typically wear pearl or crystal studs for earrings.

15. Who do you tag? YOU.

I took this tag from this-girls-viewpoint.blogspot.com/. If you don't have a blog, just comment below your answers, I'd love to see them!

School Beauty Essentials!

Hey guys! This will be my second post in my Back to School Beauty series. Today I'd thought I'd share my beauty essentials for back to school. I don't bring a ton of beauty items to school, but they sure do come in handy in case of a makeup meltdown. It's pretty hot most of the year where I live, so being outside for more than 5 minutes will make you sweat! Let's get into the essentials.

So, to the left, is a makeup bag you can purchase at Target. (link: http://www.target.com/p/arabian-brights-cosmetic-bag-collection/-/A-14392514 ) I have a makeup bag from this collection that is a size up (I use it for travel), but my makeup bag I keep in my backpack from Primark (a store I went to in England) is nowhere on the internet. So, let's get into what I keep in my makeup bag!
  • Maybelline Fit Me Concealer - I always keep a concealer in my makeup bag. If I get oily and my makeup needs a touch-up, it's important to have a concealer, especially if I have any breakouts or redness.
  • Rimmel Stay Matte Powder - Powder is a must-have! I get oily and have to touch up at least once during a school day.
  • Kleenex On The Go - If you don't know what this is, it's just those Kleenex tissue pack that are easy to fit into a purse or makeup bag. I use these a ton. I use them as blotting paper; they work just as well. Also, I am SUPER allergy prone, and if I skip a day of taking my allergy medicine, I will have a cold the next day. Definitely an essential.
  • Lipbalm - I don't have a specific brand I love, but I always have a lipbalm in my makeup bag so I don't get chapped lips. That's just not cute.
  • Lipstain/Lipstick/Tinted Lipbalm/Lipgloss - I, again, don't have a specific product I always keep in there, but whatever lip color I where that day, I throw it in my bag to touch up after lunch or if my lip color is wearing off. I have recently been loving my Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stains, which I have posted about on Instagram. Let me know if you want a review!
  • EcoTools Powder Brush - This is a great drugstore powder brush. I definitely recommend their brushes, they are amazing quality. But, I keep a powder brush in there to apply my Rimmel Stay Matte Powder. (Purchasable at Ulta)
  • Bedhead Tigi Hard Head Hairspray - I don't keep this in my makeup bag, but I do keep it in my backpack if I curl my hair that day. I always need to touch up, and the one I have is perfect because it's travel sized, and really helps my hair hold a curl, which it does NOT like to do!
  • Perfume Rollerball - Whenever I buy perfume, I always buy a rollerball as well to keep with me during the day. I like to smell nice, okay?
So that's basically all. Wow I feel like I keep a lot in my makeup bag, but I always use all of them. Let me know what your essentials are down below.

July Favorites!

Hey! I thought I'd just post an extra blog post about my July favorites! I will try to do these monthly in addition to my regular posts! Always check at the beginning of the next month for a favorites post!

Makeup:
  • Maybelline The Falsies Waterproof Mascara: I love this stuff. I use it as my first coat of mascara, and it really gives a lot of length and volume. (Tip: If you have hard to curl lashes, use a waterproof mascara as your first coat, it really works!)
  • L'Oreal Voluminous False Fiber Lashes Mascara: I haven't heard many people talk about this, so I will insert a picture. It has fibers in the mascara to add eyelashes basically! It works wonderfully, and it really gives full, voluminous lashes. It is a little pricey (almost 11 dollars!), but it is really worth it!
  • Maybelline Fit Me Concealer: I have made a review about this, and I love it. Click here to see the review: http://lovekelseybeauty.blogspot.com/2013/07/review-maybelline-fit-me-concealer.html
  • Rimmel Stay Matte Powder: I have really liked this stuff for keeping me matte this summer. I do still have to re-apply, but I think it does they job! I wear 001 Transparent.
Hair:
  • Garnier Fructis Sleek and Shine Leave-In Conditioning Treatment: I love this! It works so well, along with the rest of the Sleek and Shine line! It keeps my hair really shiny and smooth, I love how soft my hair feels.
  • it's a 10 miracle leave-in: Everyone raves about this, and for a good reason. It is a thermal protector and fights frizz and dryness. I use this if I am going to blow-dry my hair, otherwise, I will use the product listed above.
Other:
  • Walgreens 10% Benzoyl Peroxide Gel: I use this after I wash my face and it really makes my skin clear. It is super strong, which is great, but if you don't wash your hands after, you will bleach everything you touch. Not a good experience. http://www.walgreens.com/store/c/walgreens-benzoyl-peroxide-acne-medication-gel/ID=prod5901452-product
  • Clif Z Bars: I love Z Bars. Recently I got this box from Costco and it has 8 Iced Oatmeal Cookie, 8 Chocolate Chip, and 8 Chocolate Brownie. They taste so good I eat one like every day. I will definitely repurchase that box set once I run out!
Music:
These are all my July favorites! What are yours? Comment them below, along with any other post requests. Also, I am trying to update my blog and make it look a little better, so if you come back and it looks different, that's why. BLOG UNDER CONSTRUCTION.

Middle School Survival Guide

Hey guys! Welcome to my first blog post in my Back to School Beauty series! I will continue to post a back to school blog post every Sunday through August and September. Today, I want to help all of y'all going into, or in, middle school.

Middle school is an interesting time in people's lives. Girls will be girls and boys will be boys. Girls can be mean, and boys can be straight-up immature. Drama is everywhere. Anyone and everyone will start rumors for attention and do the stupidest of things. Here is how to survive middle school:

For those of y'all going into middle school, don't be nervous. It's not that bad. I got super nervous that I would get lost or not know how to open my locker. But, everything was fine. Typically, you'll have orientation and get your locker and schedule. Take advantage of this!! Find out where your classes are and efficient routes to each class. Open your locker a few times or until you get the hang of unlocking and locking it. By the first day, you will be able to open your locker. Write it on a piece of paper and put it in your pocket if you think you'll forget it. Teachers will also be very helpful the first few weeks when it comes to lockers and where to go.

If you are already in middle school, you know how it all works. After a week or two, everyone will have a settled routine. Here are some additional tips for everyone going into middle school (or high school):
  • Be yourself. People don't like fakes. It's just another reason for drama. Minimizing your involvement in it will really help your reputation in school.
  • Along with being yourself, don't dress to impress the first day. That totally might throw you off, but hear me out. If you are the "shorts and a t-shirt girl" (which is fine), don't wear a fancy dress and your hair curled the first day of school. Wear something you'd normally wear. I knew this girl that on the first day of 8th grade wore this really pretty red dress and these CUTE sandals. But, the rest of the year all she wore was jeans and V-neck tees. My main point (I think this goes for anyone in school) is be yourself when it comes to what you wear the first day.
  • Join clubs! Clubs or special classes (like theater or art) will help you find where you fit in. It'll be easier to make friends if you find ones that have common interests as you.
  • Get good grades. Some colleges look at your grades in middle school! Don't just think because it's easy work that you can blow it off! Try your hardest in school.
I hope this helped some people going into middle school! Post any pictures on Instagram with the hashtag #backtoschoolbeauty or tag my new Instagram @lovekelseybeauty ! Comment below when you go back to school or anything you'd like to see from me!

Bald Chick Clothing Line

For those of you who don't know, Talia Joy Castellano died on July 16, 2013 at 11:22am PST. Talia Joy was a brave 13 year old girl with neuroblastoma, a very aggressive cancer that creates tumors in nerve tissues. Talia had been fighting this cancer for over 6 years. About one year ago, she developed pre-leukemia, and she was running out of options to treat both cancers. She was then given 4-12 months to live. But, throughout all the years, she remained positive. From Pixar's Finding Nemo, she held this quote in her heart-- "just keep swimming".

When she was first diagnosed with cancer and became bald,
she didn't want to wear a wig. She wanted to wear makeup. Her very famous line came about-- "makeup is my wig". She started a YouTube channel and was an aspiring makeup artist. (Here is a link to her YouTube:http://www.youtube.com/user/taliajoy18 ) She dreamed of having a makeup line and clothing line, but died too soon. Her sister Mattia Castellano, has made it her mission to fulfill Talia's dreams and keep her legacy alive.

And that's where her clothing line comes into play. Before her tragic death, she started a clothing line with a designer named Urbana, and named her clothing line That Bald Chick. (Here is a link to the website: http://www.thatbaldchick.net/ ) Mattia is trying to finish the collection and sell it at retailers such as Target or JCPenney.
***EDIT: The line was renamed to "Bald Chick Collection". Talia's family is no longer affiliated with "That Bald Chick".

Rest in peace Talia. You were an angel on Earth as you are now in Heaven. I never got to meet you, but hope to someday in Heaven! Please pray for her close family and friends in this hard time after her death.

New Favorite Summer Nail Polish: Essie's Full Steam Ahead

Hey guys! I wanted to tell you about this amazing new nail polish; Essie's Full Steam Ahead! This nail polish is part of the newest Essie collection-- the Summer 2013 collection. Along with Full Steam Ahead, the rest of the collection includes: Rock the Boat, Sunday Funday, The More The Merrier, Naughty Nautical, and The Girls Are Out.

This polish is similar to other colors by Essie, such as Lilacism and Under Where?. It is a bit more pink-toned than Lilacism, and a little darker than Under Where?. I couldn't find any close dupes from other brands. Sorry! If you know of any, post them below!

I really love Essie's formula! The bottle I got was a bit liquidy, and definitely needs 2-3 coats to be opaque. But overall, it went on really smooth!

Pair Essie's Full Steam Ahead with Essie's 3 Way Glaze as your base coat and top coat for a chip-free manicure or pedicure!

You can purchase Essie Nail Polish at locations such as:
Walgreens, CVS, Target, Walmart, HEB, and Ulta!
It's priced from 6-9 dollars depending on place of purchase.
Disclaimer: I was not paid to talk about this nail polish. As always, I give honest opinions. I paid for this nail polish myself, and I really do love it!

Announcement: I will be posting every Sunday! Once I've gained a bit of a larger audience, I will post twice a week. Please follow my blog for a new post every week!

Post below what you'd like to see next!

Review: Maybelline FIT ME Concealer

Amazing. That's what this concealer is! The Maybelline FIT ME Concealer is an all-around great concealer from under-eyes to acne. I've been using this concealer since January, and I swear by it! Probably one of the best drugstore concealers out there.

This concealer claims to have:
• No oils, no waxes, no nonsense
• Natural coverage that leaves skin the way it was meant to be…fresh, breathing, natural
• Exclusive translucent base and lightweight pigments allow skin's natural highs and lows to show through
• Non-comedogenic, dermatologist-tested, ophthalmologist-tested, fragrance-free

I think this is a light to medium coverage concealer, and is quite buildable. It does leave a natural finish, and is a bit dewy. It has great pigmentation, and has not clogged my pores! I use this concealer basically everyday! I wear shade 15. These things are very important when choosing the correct concealer.

Now, like every concealer, there are a few downsides. First off, it does have that foundation smell, so I don't think it is really fragrance-free. I, personally, don't mind it, but the smell is strong. Another thing, if you are very fair, the shade "10" is a lot more orange-undertoned, while 15 is a lot more pink-undertoned. Even though this product is supposed to adjust to your skin color to "fit you", I can't wear shade 10 because of how orange it is! The picture posted above indicates the different undertones of this concealer.

Overall, I'd give this product a solid 8.5, mainly because of the undertones. I would recommend this product to people with oily skin to normal skin. It does make dry skin even more visible, so I would not recommend this to people with dry patches.

You can purchase this online at:
http://www.maybelline.com/
or at other retailers such as Walgreens, CVS, Ulta, and HEB.

Review: bareMinerals PRIME TIME eyelid primer

Step aside Urban Decay, it's PRIME TIME!

The bareMinerals PRIME TIME eyelid primer isn't a new product, but is rarely spoken of within the beauty community. So, I thought I'd shed some light on this product.

This eyelid primer is advertised to:
  • Work overtime so that you enjoy vibrant, lasting eye color
  • Combat excess oil so that your eyelids don't look greasy
  • Perfect for when you need all-day, all-night staying power
  • Go on in a jiffy, thanks to our convenient applicator
  • Sheer, neutral tint that doesn't interfere with your favorite colors
  • Oil-free, fragrance-free, allergy-tested and dermatologist-tested, so you can be carefree and comfortable
  • I think this eyelid primer does just that and more!

First off, it's easy to apply. Just squeeze some out of the tube (you don't need much AT ALL), and apply directly to your lid. It doesn't stay wet very long, so you can easily apply eyeshadow after application.

The next great thing about this product is that it doesn't budge! It keeps your eyeshadow colors vibrant for at least 10 hours. I also think it is waterproof, though it is not advertised as a waterproof eye primer. I can take a hot shower without it coming off!

Lastly, I think it's great for people with oily eyelids. I don't have extremely oily lids, but I do have a little, but that doesn't interfere with my eyeshadow!

Overall, I'd give this product a 9-9.5 out of 10. It has great lasting power, great packaging, and doesn't irritate your eye area.

Buy it here along with the rest of bareMinerals products:
